How to change a front tire, Super C.

I have a Farmall Super C, with a single front tire that I need to change. I was told to loosen but not remove the bolts that is below the axle. Raise the tractor to remove the weight from the front tire and then remove the nuts from the axle. Then the axle can be pressed or knocked through, but not from the side of the greese fitting. Does this sound right? May I did not hit hard enough, but looks like the axle is stuck in place. Thanks to all, and have a Blessed Day (or night).
