1952 john deere MC

I am working on the left steering clutch. I had to replace all the internal parts due to corrosion. The drive sprocket is physically engaged to the transmission gearbox, however the sprocket will not turn when power is applied to the left side. The clutch disks installed were thinner that the original ones, is it possible I need to add more disks? Any help would be appreciated.
