Well, we have a 786, which is kind of a stripped-down 886. It's been a good tractor, 7000 hrs. and no trouble to speak of. The 786 was never avalible with a cab and was only avalible with the D-358 German Diesel. The last of the 886's also had this engine. You are right that the 360 has two oil filters, while the German Diesel has one filter. The 300 and 400 series engines (312, 360, 414, 436, 466) can't be beat when it comes to lugging power, while the German diesels (310 and 358) usally last a little longer and get better fuel economy. The cab on the 86 series was the biggest improvement over the 66 series. I've been disking all day with a 966, it's louder inside that cab than it is outside!
