Is your 4020 wired for 24 volt gen/starter and 12 volt lights, or has it been converted to the all 12 volt system? Old system was a wiring nightmare, trying to keep the load balanced between batteries, etc. When problems developed, extra bright headlights signaled 24 volts going to the lights and they burned out soon. I suspect you may have the same problem with the switch. There is no dimming of the dash lights- there is one light, and it glows the same intensity at all times. Old system also had a grounding fuse on one battery. Switching to 12 volt system is well worth it- did it on both 4020 and 3020 and don't regret it.
