Hey Bob - With your particular setup (3-position switch and voltage regulator), a "low charge" problem cannot be caused by a bad light switch. However here are few possible causes: High resistance in the wiring between the generator ARM and regulator GEN terminals; also between the regulator BAT terminal and the ammeter. Bad connections at the ammeter (happened to me once...) Poor ground at the regulator. Improperly adjusted voltage/current relay in the regulator. Improperly adjusted 3rd brush in the generator. A quick test: Run the engine at full governor and temporarily connect the generator F (or FLD) terminal to a GOOD ground. If the ammeter now shows 10 amps or more, the generator is OK - problem is in the wiring or regulator. If it still only shows a couple amps, the generator is the problem. Hope this helps!! ...Bob M
