I live in Saskatchewan, just north of Montana. I think that three things make tractor shopping worthwhile up here: First our dollar is only worth 60 cents, so you immediately make out on the currency conversion. Second, Sask is a very dry climate and old tractors seem to hold up very well, heck we probably have more older cars on the road than any other province, cause they just don't rust out up here. Third, most smaller older tractors have been owned and used by farmers who know how to take care of and properly maintain equipment. Many of the older ones have seen only light duty maintaining yard sites as most farmers have been using over 100 hp for 30 or 40 years as main tractors, and today require a minimum of 250 hp 4WD to work their ever larger farms. Alberta and Manitoba would also be prime shopping areas, and if you purchase the tractor and take it back with you I don't think you encounter any import duty at the border for models originally mfg. in the US or Canada. Talk to someone who has imported the cannuck tractors to get the whole story.
