Oil Bath air filters do a TERRIBLE JOB of filtering dirt out of the intake air! As the others explained too many variables as to vacumn and temperature and oil weight all effect the way oil and filtering is accomplished. I read in a service manual MANY years ago that oil bath air filters can vary removing from 80% to 95% of the dirt from incoming air. A properly sized dry pleated paper filter takes out just over 99.9%. Stay away from these cotton gauze filters too... Especially on a diesel engine You want to run a LONG time. Most ALL late model ag & construction equip runs a 2-stage dry filter... a filter inside a filter because they WORK, and are able to withstand the suction of turbo diesel engines.
