Fast-hitch is the IHC system on older Farmall/International tracotrs. Works well, has both up _and_ down pressure which can be very handy. Hookup is not any easier than a 3-point, unless you do all your work on level, tabletop, labratory conditions. :) Implements with the Fast-hitch design are harder to find, it was never made public-domain or caught on, so mostly only older IHC equipment can be found. Many of these Fast-hitches can be converted to 3-point with some arms, but a few tractors did not have provisions for the upper arm link, and the range of movement up & down is not the same, nor the same arc, as a standard 3-point. So, mostly it works, but with a couple of asterics.

Some people are describing a quick hitch, whick is an adaptor for a regular 3-point system that has hooks on it, you just back up to a 3-point implement, lift up, & the hooks lock over the implement's arms (you need adaptors on the lower pins, and a solid upper pin) without getting off the tractor. Generally good, but different implements can be different widths, different hight to the upper link, or have obstructions to grab the upper link.

Three point is what you see on the back of newer tractors, the new implements being sold, and is the standard of today. Ford Ford/Fergison introduced it. There are 4 'standard' sizes depending on hp of the tractor, but small variations crop up in some implements...

Three-point has the 2 lower arms, and an upper link that often has adjustments for hight, & fore/aft adjustments of the implement. Most can swing side to side freely, or be pinned/chained to not swing. Nearly all only have lifting power, gravity pulls then down, no 'push' down.

Fasthitch only has 2 lower, solid arms that connect the implement *well, there is also the rare 1-point available on the tiny older IHC tractors), there is less side sway to the system, and most offer up & or down pressure.

3-point is current, 'any implement will fit', it's what 'all' the tractors & implements use.

Fast-hitch was only IHC, is more difficult to find implements for, can be converted to 3-point with some considerations, and offers some unique qualities that 3-point doesn't have.

Quick-hitch is an adaptor to make 3-point hookups easier for some 3-point equipment.

(By the way, I picked up an adjustable Fasthitch to 3-point adaptor at auction last year - big heavy bracket not just the 2 slip in ball arms, fits my 300. Never saw one of those before, what are they worth, how many were made, what's the story on these?)

Today's Featured Article - An Old-Time Tractor Demonstration - by Kim Pratt. Sam was born in rural Kansas in 1926. His dad was a hard-working farmer and the children worked hard everyday to help ends meet. In the rural area he grew up in, the highlight of the week was Saturday when many people took a break from their work to go to town. It was on one such Saturday in the early 1940's when Sam was 16 years old that he ended up in Dennison, Kansas to watch a demonstration of a new tractor being put on by a local dealer. It was an Allis-Chalmers tractor dealership, ... [Read Article]
