Hi: Using the Tracer, I've always attached the boat to the front tie-downs on the body using rope. The boat is WAY too heavy to tow behind the Tracer; "Towing is NOT recommended." That said, I've moved the trailer a few feet before by pulling on the safety chain using the Tracer (since it hasn't got a hitch ball; thankfully!) it moves this weight no problem, in soft sand, with the tires at 28psi. Howver, you are correct ... airing down would increase the surface area, and hence traction. And no, the car is not a "keeper." It is an '88 with about 224k kms, so it might die at any moment. I'm not worried too much about making it die faster.
