Howard Rotovator - gear lube?

My manual specifies SAE 140 gear lube for the gearbox and the chain drive. Locally I find 85-140 multi-weight but straight 140 is not easy to find. Is the 85-140 suitable or should I keep looking for straight 140? Any explanation about the differences would be greatly appreciated.
