My vote is for the greatest safety device in the world--- the human mind, used BEFORE getting into a sutuation needing anything else. There would be no corn picker,hay bailer, combine, tractor, etc disabling injuries/deaths if folks thought prior to acting. If folks actually did this there would be no need for any of the safety devices mandated by law now that we must pay for. EXAMPLE: how many times have you dismounted from a tractor, combine etc without shutting it off? or knowingly driven machinery too fast trying to beat a rain or darkness? I have, and don't know anyone who has'nt. This makes all safety devices the product of our own carelessness.
