Thanks for the link information. It brings up a lingering question on rear tires. About 1960,
tires like 15-34 became replaced by 18.4-34, also
13-38 were replaced with 14.9-38, and stamped below the size(replaces 13-38). But, if you bought
a Super 88D in '56 0r '57, it HAD 15.5-38's with
no 'replaces' stamp. Referred to as 'low-profile',
it was stamped 'on 14" rim'. The 14.9-38 was more
ballooned on 13" rims, but appeared to perform
better than the 15.5-38, which seems so popular.
One more tire mystery: My Uncle purchased an 880D
in 1959 with 15-34 tires, in 1960, my father purchased an 1800 with 18.4-34(replaces 15-34). My
Uncle's double ring chains were too small for the
18.4-34's, same dealer ordered different double ring chains for the 18.4-34's. Tire games???
