I had a tractor given to me once. I had read some books and looked at the pictures of all the nice old iron that was restored to showroom perfection. I mentioned that I'd like to get one sometime to tinker with. My girlfriend's mother said there was an old tractor out in the pasture and I could have it if I'd haul it off. I could see it from the road, but getting to it was a challenge. It was about 3/4 of a mile of going over sand hills and dodging mesquites just to get to it. I'll tell you, it was the saddest looking WC Allis I've ever seen. One back wheel completely gone. Sand drifted up til it was half buried. Block cracked, so was the transmission, front rims welded to the hubs, no bottom in the gas tank, and a cobbled up mess in place of the seat. That was over 2 years ago and it's still sitting there. I'd go get it if I could figure out how to get it out. A few months later I gave $800.00 for a 39 JD H that was only slightly better. $3,000 dollars later and it's almost ready to run. But it's been fun! Just jump in and get one. You know it'll be expensive, but no more than some other hobbies. Good luck Frank M.

"Barry Seiler, owner of Country Town Farm Supply store used to invite people up to the Johne Deere store. He would give hats and a free meal for everyone that brings a tractor." Elliott said while this
