I believe Morgan is correct. My favorite old iron guru around here says "That machine was designed to work with a six volt system and it will if you maintain it. Don't go messing around with an eight volt battery. Either leave it at six or convert it to twelve." He tells me this as he's using an eight volt battery to run a 1914 IHC 1 HP hit and miss.";^)
