I've been told that the tape/dope doesn't really seal, it just helps lubricate the threads & allows you to screw tighter (& dismantle easier) the parts. Since any hydraulic parts I work with seem to be bubbling with oil, there is pretty good lubrication on the threads already.... Then, I've been told that you can cause lots of problems with loose tape or dope floating through you hyd system if you are not _very_ careful. So, it's best to just totally skip all such products entirely, and tighten down well. Don't know if that is right, but that is what various people who work on tractors have told me when I asked. --->Paul
