I am restoring a 3020 gas. The Marvel USX21 carburator is shot. The low speed air screw threads in the carb body are chewed up, and the pressed-in pin that adjusts the accelarator pump diaphram is loose. I need to get a new or rebuilt carb. My dilema is that I have had mixed info on what carb to buy, either a zenith or another Marvel S. I have talked with a veteran JD mechanic who swears by the Marvel S. He says Zeniths suck. I am veteran auto mechanic, and viewed a zenith at local JD shop. The Zenith to me looks like a better design, in my opinion. Can some one with experience in this situation answer the following questions: What carb is better? Should I buy new or rebuilt? Does the Zenith replacement fall right in, or do you have to buy/fabricate crap for it to fit? Who out here can one buy a quality rebuit carb from, that has better prices than the JD dealer? When I mean rebuilt, I mean all parts are within new factoy specifications. Thanks DJW
