If the generator requires 24 PTO HP, then it must be about a 12,000 watt? (12kw) I think what you are going to find is, it takes a lot more engine power to run the higher PTO speeds, (because of the internal gearing to speed up the PTO) and also those little engines have to spin fairly fast to make much HP, and torque with out lugging. Another thing, when your engine is turning slower, the water and oil pumps are running slower too. All of this adds up to, i wouldn't do it. Only exception is, if you were only going to draw a very light load from the genset, (500watts?) for a "short" peroid of time. I don't think that's what you had in mind. Something else to keep in mind. You should NOT pull more than 80% full load (HP) fron your PTO for extended lengths of time. So, if you want to pull 12kw out of a PTO gen. set for continual service, you need about 30 PTO HP to start with. It's no big deal to pull full power out of the PTO for a few minutes to start bigger electric motors, or when running a welder off the gen. set, so don't worry about that hurting your tractor. BTW, i also have a Kubota with multi speed PTO, and a 15kw (18kw surge) PTO generator, and i wouldn't run mine the way you described. With my Kubota, you select the higher speed on the PTO, then set the RPM to the 540 setting. Doesn't your generator have a volt meter to tell you when you have the RPM right??? That's what you should be going by. Robert
