Wasn't the guy in Corsicana or Waxahachie or somewhere in between? (Avalon, Ennis, Italy??) I am saddened to hear that the guy dies after surviving such a bad event. I saw him on the news and thought he would be OK. The guy looked like a honest hard working farmer. I live slightly East of there but we have the same hot dry weather that seems to be perfectly suitable for all the unwanted pests like scorpions, snakes of all kinds, bees, fireants etc. I know what you mean about the size of that swarm, I wonder what kind of bees those were. A week without a scorpion in the house would be welcome once in a while too, at least these bees don't come in the house too often. I have had honey bees in the fireplace after I put chicken wire over the flu to keep out chimney sweep birds. After that I pulled off the wire, I prefer the birds over the bees.
