if there is not a voltage regulator inside your alternator then there is one somewhere in your electrical line to the battery. This may need replaced. Also make sure your battery is fully charged with a battery charger. An alternator is a battery maintainer not a battery charger. Working to keep a half charged battery charged full is hard on the diodes inside the alternator.
