Yes you may have been sold a loader vale that can be converted to work with either system.Right now its the wrong way, that you allready figured out.What you need is an opening between the two ports so you don't have to do it out side.look into the holes and see if there is a plug inside that can be removed.You could try calling where you got it.If you need to post back for more help tell us witch make valve you have.
