Cracked Front Support Frame to Weld or Not to Weld?

The front half of my front (axle) support frame on my Ford 841 is cracked clean off the back half - from the stress of the front loader, which bolts on there. This part does not look like cast steel or any other fancy alloy. My inclination is to bring it to a welding pro, and have him add extra support. Any reason not to weld? Should I be looking for a replacement? Any recommendations of welding rod, methods?
