Everyone has made lots of good points. I'll try to add a couple more. Is your place flat or hilly? If you have hills, an 8N with a loader, no power steering, and no live PTO will make life "interesting" if you try to stop while mowing and going downhill. Guy near me in SW Wisconsin got killed a year or so ago in just such a manner. Additionally, a FEL will make your tractor that much harder to manuver if you use it for mowing. Also if you have hills or uneven terrain, stay away from tricycle front end. Unfortunately, used compact (35-40 HP) are at a premium because there are a lot of us 10 to 40 acre hobby farmers. Best advice is find a dealer that you trust that will service or sell parts for you tractor.
