First a caution. I was looking up some abandoned property out in the country, and researching the ownership before contacting someone I found that the house used to belong to a Korean War veteran, he was at his wife's house around the corner. He had his brush hog up on blocks and was under it when the blocks gave way, I read this in his obituary. The house still sits vacant, and his wife still lives around the corner, and she still pays the taxes on the vacant house. Second, the hose really works, Bolens mowers came with a plastic hose fixture on the deck in the 1970's and 1980's. It wouldn't be too hard to put something on there to spray water through the deck while it is running.
