Small farms are kind of on a come back...I'm planning to plant 10-15 acres of hybrid trees...every 5-6 years I'll be sending them to the paper mill or for other purposes and pocketing 100-200K... plant over 2000 trees per acre. And my wife and I work other jobs. A few head of beef and a bunch of chickens on 25 acres, a couple of border collies and a good tractor and of course a fishing boat...It's heaven....The main thing is to grow something that everyone else isn't, like saffron to sell to local high-end restaurants...and to enjoy what you're doin'...There's a tomato farm next to us that makes a nice profit every year selling to the public and supermarkets...on 7 acres!
