I had a similiar experience. My suggestion is this, do some shopping around, in my case, I could have bought a brand new (totally new, new selanoid, etc.) for what I ended up paying the electric shop to rebuild mine. Mine had the windings burned in to. You know, if yours just needs brushes and bushings and the armature smoothed up, you could do that yourself for probably 10 bucks. If it were me, I'd take it apart myself and see what it needs.
