Several years ago we had to rebuild the engine on a D7 Cat that we used for farming. I took the heads and the crankshaft to the local machine shop to have the heads rebuilt and the crank ground. This was the local Freightliner dealer and did a lot of truck work. When I went to pick the parts up there was a $20 delivery charge and a $20 pick up charge on the crankshaft. I questioned that and they told me that there lathe wouldn't handle that size crank and they had to take it to another shop and that was the charge for driving the crank about 8 blocks each way. Guess what door I haven't darkened in about 25 years?
