If your intake valves are "tight" the engine will
really load up the plugs when starting. I had a
Case that would not start with the starter
(spun fast, too!) but would fire immediately
with the handcrank AND would start with the
starter after it warmed up. The plugs would
foul when I worked the tractor for a while and
the carburetion seemed way off. Started me
thinkin' about manifold vacuum, clearances,
etc. decided to check the valves and the
intakes were tight. Set the valve clearance....no
more problem.
