Hi JW, Pretty sad. I had two unsuccesful attempts on consecutive nights on my shop. After the first one the county cops didn't want to bother to drive out. OK. The second morning I called again and said as how I had a problem and I understood they couldn't do anything about it. Question was, after I solved the problem, with a shotgun, did they want me to call them or just fire up the backhoe? Squad car was out promptly. Still no solution, of course, but explained very clearly what the law requires if I wanted to get involved. Also mentioned that owner involvement was about the only way to solve the problem, partly due to lengthy response time. 45 minutes would not be unusual here either. Worked for me. I spent a few hundred on electronics and now have the warning I need. May not be an ideal solution but it's something I can live with. My situation is probably different from yours in that I live on a mountaintop with only one road up (or a pretty good hike). I could wire my perimeter but I don't want to live that way. Ex-employees are now leaving me alone (I followed the oil leaks to their trailer). Anybody driving up now leaves their vehicle here until I release it due to a self-closing gate. Existence of part of my system (the sensors) is well known in the neighborhood- a deterrent that's working. If the local sleazeballs think I'm a little crazy, great! Good luck.
