Brenda Dusting the cobwebs from my mind, you probably are thinking about what we just called a "horse-power". Used it to drive grain elevator. Does it have a beam approx 10-12 feet long going out to the side? Hitch a team to it & horses walked in a circle. Output had approx 1 inch square. The one we had the shaft speed was too slow to drive anything like a sheller or grinder. My Dad added another pole to hook to horse's bit to keep them going in circle instead of going straight. My job as a kid was to walk behind them to keep them going. Last used it in 1956. Willie in Mn
