Rusty Gas tanks.......here's a fix for all

I've been seeing on many pages about rusty gas tanks, and I thought I'd leave a little trick that I learned as a motorcycle mechanic a few years back. Take the tank off, and strip the parts from it. Plug up the outlet with a cork and some tape. Go to the hardware store and get a couple pounds of dry wall screws, and put them into the tank. Secure the fill hole in the tank (sometimes requires that you wrap a piece of tape arround the tank with a piece of cardboard over the hole) Now all you have to do is shake the daylights out of it. One way I did it was to strap the tank to the hub of another tractor, and go for a lengthy drive (mowing). As long as the tank doesn't fall off or scoot arround (dings up tank) it works well. When done, empty the tank, rinse with thinner, or alcahol, and no more rust problem. The Screws have, as you may have noticed, tons of sharp edges on them. They'll scour the rust out, and leave nice shiny metal where rust once was. Good luck, and happy hollidays!
