You are right when you say that the example I gave (2 ft. arm & 10 lb. scale reading) would yield 20 ft/lbs of torque so the scale reading at 2 ft. should be multiplied instead of divided. You may also be right when you say that you have never seen ft-lb expressed as ft/lb before. You did know, however, the intent of the two abreveations joined by the hash mark (back slash), right? The reason I use the hash instead of the dash is really quite simple ------IT (the HASH) IS CLOSER TO MY FINGERS THAN THE DASH! Go figure.
