I don't remember this particular habit as my dad always said to throttle tractor back to idle for 30 to 60 sec before shutting down. I think he was right. My SA if you don't idle it back will diesel and want to keep running, always did so its not todays gasoline. My grandfather had a habit I will never forget. One must remember he never learned to drive until 40 years of age. He would go to garage start car, hold the accelerator half way to the floor and ride the clutch backing out. There was an old ice house about 100 ft. straight back in his path. Ice house hadn't been used for 15 years, dad had it on low priority for demolishion. One day dad said I guess we better remove the ice house. Some day your grandfathers foot is going to slip off clutch pedal and he and car will go right through ice house. I suspect he witnessed a near miss I didn't see.
