Actually, JD hired the Henry Dreyfuss industrial design group to perform their styling. Henry Dreyfuss had been involved in several different product designs prior to the JD account, so I suspect that's the origin of the car story. The A and B wound up styled in 1937. The D followed, and finally the G made it during the war. All tractors from the H on were introduced already styled. All of the preceding years (1912-1937) of production of all models were unstyled. And, yes, the Internationals were styled prior to the JD's, along with several other brands.
