Then you get to electric hp, where a 15 amp 120v plug can only supply about 1 hp, but air compressor manufaturers routinely sell 120v air compressers with 3-6 hp motors on them! That of course it the theoretical max power at the point when everything stalls & melts down, actually you are only getting about a 1 hp motor....
