Mall Engine

This question is slightly "off tractor" but engine related. I have a military surplus 115 volt generator, 2.5 kva with a 2 cycle engine. The whole unit has a "Mall Tool Company" data plate on it. Mall used to make chain saws in the late 40's/early 50's. I believe this generator unit is early to mid 1950's, but I'm not exactly sure. The ignigion coil under the fan flywheel seems to be bad, and my local small engine parts supplier doesn't recognize anything. It is similar to a Briggs, except that the magnet is not in the flywheel (all aluminum) but seems to be in the shaft. Does anyone know anything about these Mall engines? I would think that they probably used some standard ignition parts rather than have completely designed and manufactured their own! Any useful information would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.
