Have an old service letter from MM that states that "It is not recommended by MM(maybe you don't have an MM) or Delco Remy to run 8 volt batteries in a 6 volt system.It should be discouraged due to the higher voltages required on the voltage regulator and generator to keep the 8 volt battery charged,and also will give premature failure of the electrical system which was originally built for 6 volts and not 8." I would'nt see a problem if it was all converted. We have tried an 8 volt in a Super 77 ind Oliver and ended up going back to a 6 volt. My three cents(inflation)
