I have a WW2 surplus fire pumper it has a 6cly flat head (chrysler) direct coupled to a Hale pump on a trailer made by Twin Coach. My father was a boy last time it was used but it is not seized. From what my father can remember is that it had a heat exchanger that rotted out and they put a car radiator on it but that ran a little hot. The original pump was set up to supply fire hose and had a complicated manifold, that manifold froze and they replaced the outer case and impler with ones more suited to pumping irragation water. Anyone know anything about one of these things? I have heard that the engines were low speed and then I heard they were very high speed. I would like to fix it up to use again to get an idea on the rpm and then maybe put a diesel on it. Our fire company is also thinking about a skid water supply for a pickup and This thing has impressed some of the old member 40+ years ago when there was some flooding and my grandfather pumped out some basements that the fireco. didnt want to tie trucks up. The old irragation salesmen have all retired and the new ones don't know much about it, (plus would like to sell me New). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Vince

From the engine number, it was found that the major was produced late 19
