I put myself through highschool and college doing this. Like said earlier, the first 30 days are critical. Dry is more important than warm. I got them for free...still didn't like loosing any. My rate was about 90% made it to butcher. Lots of small feedings are better than one or two big ones while you are bottle feeding them. Put some molasses based or added to feed around day 4 and they'll start licking and soon off be the bottle. If you have pasture, Jersey's will be your "most" economical converter of grass to meat. Meat tastes great, give them a little good feed to supplement and get them ready to finish. They will take a lot longer to reach 700 lbs than most any other breed though. I'd put them on "full feed" at around 500 lbs and grain finish them. And make them steers as soon as you can, Jersey bulls have an earned reputation of the meanest bulls of any! Good Luck:)
