Some years ago we built a custom high torque starter for my uncles WD45 with high compression pistons. The stock starter is a very light duty unit with only 2 fld coils. We used parts of a 4 fld starter from a Moline G4 combine(Z engine?) About the only modification was to drill a new dowl hole in the AC starter snout. On 12V this starter cranked the engine so fast that it actually had to slow down to idle. A starter shop should be able to do this conversion.
