Cretinology at work and another hazard warning staement to be added to the shop vac user's manual, probably right away, even before the company settles with this guy. I spent 16 years as a technical writer/department supervisor, doing among other things, writing warnings for "foreseen and unforeseen hazards." Who would ever have thought of this unintended use? And yes, unless there was a specific warning statement in the manual re: "Do not use a shop vac to drain gasoline from a gas tank," the company will have to settle for failure to warn. Shop vac prices will rise to cover the cost of the settlement. This is a good example of the phrase, "Common sense isn't common anymore!"
