Someone recently posted on the JD forum that the resistance for some JD's is specified as 2.25 to 2.5 ohms. This resistance limits the field current to the generator for the 3 brush non-regulated generators. One good thing is that the incorrect resistance will not harm the generator in this type setup- too much resistance will reduce the charge rate more than desired and too little will have the charge rate nearer the maximum rate. The resistor can never make the charge rate greater than would be the rate in the absence of the resistor.
