Safety Note

Last weekend while loading silage with our I-H 350 High Utility,after making a turn the right front of the tractor went down on to the conctete of the trench silo. Upon investigation I discovered the bolt
that goes through both tubes of the adjustable front axel had sheared off, allowing the spindle part of the axel to rotate. Since I was hardly moving the only damage was to the spindle steering arm,and we had it back up and in the shop in about an hour. If I had been going between farms or some other higher speed operation the outcome could have been much worse.Upon closer insppection the two 5/8" bolts that hold the axel clamps, on both sides, were found to be about half rusted away.These are the kinds of things that we never think to check, but should.
