I was told to use only motor oil in the transmission of my H model and since my Super A was made the same year(1948) this might apply. Yes it does have hydraulics and I have had them overhauled. They still seem weak. I thought that might have been the problem since the viscosity of transmission fliud is usually lower than 30wt. motor oil
