I'm with Tom, put in raised beds and get back to gardening. A good friend quit two years ago because she was getting too old and now she can't as the sitting has got to her where she can hardly even walk. Your gonna hurt if your sitting or doing something you like. Me, I would rather hurt doing something I liked and yes I'm crippled up too.

I seen a local Phoenix guy on TV that put his backyard into concrete block raised beds then used PVC hoops to cover for a greenhouse for year round growing. What was impressive is he had the beds waste high so it would be an easy reach. Had local kids do the rotortilling each year.
Try your local highschool/chruch for help building them.

This is my first garden ever and it won't be the last :)
