Like many here, I've got a good bit of hearing loss. I've also got tinitus.

Nice side benefit I've noticed wearing the hearing protection is that after a while of wearing it (hours on end, day after day) the ringing in my ears subsides, and I can hear things better.

But all it takes is one sharp sound and the ringing sets back in for days again, and I'm back to going "what?" a whole lot of the time.
