In the early days of tractor production, the Nebraska Test Lab was developed to establish a standard of testing because so many tractor companies put out inferior products. They determined hp output and fuel efficiency (hp hours per gallon), but unless the tractor broke down during the test, there was no determination of reliability. Nowadays, reliability is largely determined by the nut behind the wheel, or in some cases, if the wheel is being driven by an axle.
