hydraulic oil

I have a 4 year old 48 inch hydrostatic drive commerical Ferris brand lawnmower. The label near the hydraulic oil overflow cup says to use 20W20 hydraulic oil. I went to the Ferris dealer to buy some. The dealer said to use regular 10W30 motor oil. I questioned him extensively and he insisted that was correct to use it in the hydrostatic drive. I sure don't want to mess up a $3600 mower. Does he know what he is talking about?
