I have experience using food grade (canola based)hydrolic oil in some of our hydrolic drives / pumps etc on our berry harvesting equipment. There are limitations. These oils don't last as long and may go rancid. The temp range is not so great and the filters may need more frequent replacing. I don't especially like to use them but we have to. However, last month I was changing the hydrolic oil in my excavator. I went to my bulk fuel dealer to pick up three pails of 46W. He suggested I use this new Environmental Hydrolic Oil. On paper it had the heat range similar to ATF(-30 to 200+ I think, don't have the paper with me). If you blow a hose its supposed to degrade saftly 60% in 30 days (grass will grow back after being burned from hot fluid.) It can be seperated from water and reused. It doesn't kill trout and some other water critters if it gets in the system by accident, (gather they can't swim in the stuff straight). It came in 36W and 46W, and it is supposed to last 10,000 Hrs. It did cost twice regular 46W. I immage other companies have similar products out there. I don't want to endorse it yet, maybe I'll post at 500 hrs and let you know how it is performing.

As simple as a box plow appears, it can be rather challenging to make work correctly. In our sandy soils of Florida, traction is king. You can never have wide enough tires or heavy enough weights to get all the traction you want … unless you own a monster tractor. U
