Fuel system problem

My Ford 2000 4 cyl starts and runs well. When I am done with it I need to turn the gas off everytime I will leave it for more than an hour or it floods itself and is a bear to start. By the next day it leaks gas from the carb. My other gas tractor (AC B) sits there between mowings and I never turn the gas off. It has never leaked. What should I be looking at to prevent this and maybe not have to turn it off all the time?
