Paul, Tom, and Glenn, Well, the Jubilee was resurructed today. After checking everything and checking the charge of the battery (and re-charging it) I used the time while the battery was charging to double-check all of the connections, clean and run a test on the switches. I also checked the distributor, the coil, and even tore open and cleaned the sediment bowl again, and cleaned and adjusted the carburetor. As I was fiddling around with the connections at the key switch (I did order a new one anyway) I moved the Battery cable. Guess what??? The connector end of the cable just fell off!!! The cable was totally loose in the connector. This is why the battery didn't want to always charge...why heavy work seemed to shut it down...why rough ground gave the engine a fit...and why jiggling the wires sometimes made it start (jostled the cable enough to get a good connection) I heavy crimped the cable in place and will get a new one tomorrow. After crimping the cable and re-installing the battery- she started right up! Anyway, thanks for all of your help and have a good Easter. -Fred

Elliott said while this
